Dark Aurelian

How many times
do I have to die
to be reborn?

How many times
must I dissolve?

All of my insides
liquify in rainbows,
glow in darkness,

until all the lights
go out.

No super moon
to call me out.
No stars
to reflect my soul.

My little blue hope
is in shadow
so deep you can’t see
any colors.

Stillness beckons
the haunting quiet
when the Music of Me
stops,

and breathing
is shallow,
and I wonder if
I will ever breathe
deeply again.

But I do.
I always do,
for I am

a living chrysalis.
